Global Infrastructure Shield: Waterbased Fluorocarbon Anti-corrosive Topcoat Paint

Short Description:

Waterborne fluorocarbon paint is a high-performance, eco-friendly coating that uses waterborne fluorocarbon resin as the main film-forming substance.

MORE DETAILS

*Product Composition:

Waterborne fluorocarbon paint is a high-performance, eco-friendly coating that uses waterborne fluorocarbon resin as the main film-forming substance. It inherits the excellent durability, weather resistance, and corrosion resistance of traditional solvent-based fluorocarbon paints, while using water as a diluent significantly reduces VOC (volatile organic compound) content, meeting modern green environmental protection and safe production requirements. The successful application of waterborne technology in fluorocarbon coatings, hailed as the “king of coatings,” represents the pinnacle of technology in the architectural and exterior wall coatings industry.

*Product Features:

● High film hardness, good wear resistance, excellent toughness, and impact resistance.
● Superior weather resistance and color/gloss retention: Effectively resists UV degradation, acid rain erosion, and wind and sand erosion; resists chalking and discoloration.
● Excellent corrosion and chemical resistance: Excellent resistance to most chemicals, solvents, and greases. The dense coating effectively blocks the penetration of moisture, chloride ions, and sulfides, providing excellent corrosion protection for concrete and metal substrates.
● Outstanding self-cleaning and stain resistance: Low surface energy, making it difficult for dirt to adhere.
● Environmentally friendly and safe: Water-based diluent, extremely low VOC content, non-toxic, odorless, non-flammable, and non-explosive, ensuring safe application.
●Good workability and adhesion: It exhibits excellent adhesion to a variety of substrates, including properly treated concrete, metal, aluminum composite panels, and old coatings.

*Product Application:

It is used for anticorrosion of chemical equipment, pipelines and steel structure surfaces in harsh industrial corrosive environments. It can be painted on steel structures, bridge projects, marine facilities, drilling platforms, ports and docks, steel structures, municipal engineering, high-speed guardrails, concrete anticorrosion, etc.

*Surface Treatment:

To ensure film adhesion and long-term corrosion protection, the substrate surface must be thoroughly cleaned of oil, rust, scale, old paint, and loose impurities before application. Preparation standards should meet the following:

All surfaces to be coated should be clean, dry and free from contamination. Before painting, all surfaces should be in accordance with the ISO8504: 2000 standard evaluation and processing.

The scaled steel is blasted to Sa2.5 grade, surface roughness is 30-75μm, or pickled, neutralized and passivated;

Oxide-free steel blasted to Sa2.5 grade, or polished to St3 grade with pneumatic or electric elastic grinding wheel;

Steels coated with workshop primer paint film damage, rust and white rust on zinc powder primer should be derusted twice, white rust is removed and polished to St3.

Other surfaces This product is used for other substrates, please consult our technical department.

*Construction Condition:

The substrate temperature is not lower than 5 ℃, and at least 3℃ higher than the air dew point temperature and the relative humidity is <85% (temperature and relative humidity should be measured near the substrate).Construction is strictly prohibited in fog, snow and windy weather.

*Construction Steps:

Step 1: Substrate Surface Preparation (The Key Step)

The quality of surface preparation directly determines the adhesion and lifespan of the paint film.

Metal surfaces must be degreased and rust-free (to Sa2.5 or St3 standards) to ensure metal surfaces to be painted must be thoroughly clean, completely dry, and free of contaminants such as oil, grease, dust, salt, scale, and loose old paint.Visible moisture or condensation is not allowed.

The treated surface should meet the design cleanliness and roughness standards, and paint should be applied as soon as possible to prevent rust recurrence or secondary contamination.

Step 2: Apply Primer

According to substrate and specific environment,chose compatible primer(Epoxy Zinc-Rich Primer, Epoxy Zinc Phosphate Primer).

Step3: Apply Waterbased Fluorocarbon Paint

Slowly pour component B (curing agent) into component A (waterbased fluorocarbon paint), thoroughly according to the specified ratio (by weight). After stirring completely, let the mixture stand for 5-10 minutes to mature. And the mixed coating used out within 4 hours (pot life).Then brush/roll or spray, Airless spraying offers the highest efficiency and produces the best paint film quality. If you have professional equipment and techniques, it will be best.The theoretical paint consumption is 0.2kg/m²/coat.(Actual usage may vary depending on surface texture, porosity, application method and operator technique.)

Note:

*If need thinning, dilute with deionized water according to the application viscosity and method (brushing, rolling, or spraying). Adjust the viscosity to suit the specific application method.

* Dilution ratio of 5-20% by weight. Over-thinning will adversely affect film build, hiding power, and long-term durability.

* Before applying the next coat, ensure the previous coat is fully cured, clean, dry, and free of all contaminants.

* Avoid vigorous stirring to prevent the introduction of excessive bubbles.

* Re-coating Interval: In mildly corrosive environments: 1 coat of primer +2 coat midcoat paint+ 2 coats of topcoat; in heavily corrosive condition environments, increase the coating thickness.

*Construction Method:

Spraying: Airless spraying or air spraying. High-pressure airless spraying is recommended.
Brushing / Rolling: The specified dry film thickness must be achieved.

*Coating System:

We recommend using a complete system of “sealing primer + intermediate coat + water-based fluorocarbon topcoat” to achieve the best results and cost-effectiveness.

Primer: Examples include waterbasedepoxy zinc-rich primer and waterbased epoxy primer. Its primary function is to provide excellent anti-corrosion protection and adhesion.

Intermediate Coat: Often an waterbased epoxy micaecous iron oxide coat. It increases the total coating thickness, acts as a barrier against moisture and corrosive agents, and enhances the overall protective performance.

Topcoat: The fluorocarbon topcoat provides the final line of defense against weathering and corrosion, along with the desired aesthetic appearance.

*Precautions:

▶ The construction temperature is 5℃-35℃ (Specific adjustments are made according to product characteristics, the humidity is ≤80% and avoid rain.

▶ Maintain good ventilation to facilitate moisture evaporation and paint film curing.

▶ Protect from freezing during storage.

▶ Protective equipment must be worn during sandblasting

▶ Fog, rain, snow, wind and rain is strictly prohibited construction.

*Storage and Shelf Life:

▅ Store in a cool, dry, ventilated indoor warehouse at a temperature of 5-35 ℃, avoid freezing and direct sunlight;

▅ The self life is 12 months. If products that exceed the storage period can be used after passing the inspection.
